Athora Netherlands announces final settlement on investment-linked insurance products after reaching 90% acceptance rate
8 May 2026 | 08:00
Athora Netherlands announces today that the settlement agreement with the consumer interest groups regarding investment-linked insurance policies sold in the Netherlands by SRLEV N.V. (Reaal) and its predecessor companies has become final, as more than 90% of the affiliated policyholders have accepted their individual compensation proposal.
In March 2024, Athora Netherlands reached a settlement with the consumer interest groups Consumentenclaim, Woekerpolis.nl, Woekerpolisproces, Consumentenbond and Wakkerpolis, concerning investment-linked insurance products sold in the Netherlands by SRLEV N.V. and its predecessor companies. The settlement was subject to a 90% acceptance rate of affiliated policyholders who received an individual proposal for compensation.
As this acceptance threshold has now been reached, the settlement has become final.
The legal proceedings initiated by Woekerpolis.nl will be discontinued and, subject to completion of the implementation of the settlement, no new legal proceedings may be initiated by the consumer interest groups and their affiliated parties.
The costs of the settlement are covered by a provision that was recognised earlier. In addition, an extra provision was established at that time for hardship cases involving policyholders who are not affiliated with any of the consumer interest groups and who have not previously received compensation. These individuals may submit an application until 1 July 2026, after which the applications will be assessed.
