Secure Login

We provide two-step authentication on our brands' websites. This means you verify your identity not only with your username and password, but also with an additional code sent to your phone.

Two-step authentication is a simple and effective way to better protect your online accounts, such as MijnZwitserleven and MijnReaal. Other terms for two-step authentication include two-step verification, two-factor authentication (2FA), two-stage authentication, or multi-factor authentication (MFA).

Check and double-check

Two-step authentication means you log in through two separate security steps. Once you’ve set this up, you’re adding an extra layer of protection. This makes it much harder for unauthorised people to gain access, even if they know your password.

For example:

  • First, enter your username and password.
  • Next, you confirm your identity using a second verification method: at MijnZwitserleven, this is a code sent via SMS or an authenticator app, for example.
    Each time you log in, you’ll receive a unique, temporary code that only you can use.

Don’t have an authenticator app yet? Then download the authenticator app from Microsoft or Google, for example:

Why two-step authentication?

Your login credentials can fall into the wrong hands without you even realising it, for example due to:

  • malicious software, such as malware or infostealers, on your laptop;
  • hacks or data breaches; if you use the same password for multiple accounts, a data breach could affect all of them. Therefore, always use unique passwords. Even better: use a password manager, which generates and stores strong, unique passwords for each of your accounts.

If a criminal has your password, they may try to log in from another device. However, thanks to two-step authentication, this isn’t so easy: without the unique code from your phone, they won’t be able to gain access. This significantly reduces the risk of misuse.
