In our own operations, we do everything we can to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. We offer employees a stable working environment and promote awareness of sustainability. Also with the partners we work with. This is how we help them make conscious choices.

We invest our assets under management in such a way that we have a positive and measurable impact on society and the planet. We encourage companies and institutions to do the right thing in terms of production, supply chains, dealing with personnel and use of raw materials.

Our themes
Urgent social developments, such as climate change, deforestation, water scarcity and the fair distribution of labor, are making ever greater demands on companies. Athora Netherlands wants to emphatically contribute to solution directions in the areas that we believe are important.
Climate
To limit global warming to 1.5 degrees (Paris Climate Agreement), our investments must contribute net zero to greenhouse gas emissions (Net zero) by 2050. Therefore, we want to reduce greenhouse gas intensity by 50% by 2030 and 75% by 2040 compared to the end of 2019. We aim for an average reduction in emissions from our investments of 7% per year.
Nature
Athora Netherlands has committed to full restoration of nature (including biodiversity) by 2050, in line with the Kunming-Montreal Agreement. Although we already monitor on related topics such as water use, land use and chemical waste management, we aim to develop and implement concrete (intermediate) targets in line with this commitment to full restoration by the end of 2026.
People
Athora Netherlands stands for good employment practices, in line with the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. All employees of companies, governments and institutions within our investment portfolios must receive a fair and livable wage, with which a person can provide for the basic needs for themselves and their families. Before the end of 2025, we want to develop this further into concrete criteria and goals.
